Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to support the day-to-day accounting operations of our organization. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, assisting with financial reporting, supporting month-end and year-end closing processes, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  •  Prepare and post journal entries. 
  •  Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and balance sheet accounts. 
  •  Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. 
  •  Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation. 
  •  Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions as needed. 
  •  Prepare account analyses and financial reports for management. 
  •  Assist in preparing financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards. 
  •  Support budgeting and forecasting activities. 
  •  Prepare monthly, quarterly, or semi-annual reconciliations of real estate tax payments billed to and collected from tenants, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of discrepancies. 
  •  Reconcile tenant tax escalation charges with actual property tax expenses and lease requirements. 
  •  Assist with year-end closing procedures, including preparation of schedules, supporting documentation, and financial information required for tax return preparation. 
  •  Coordinate with external accountants and tax professionals by providing requested financial reports, reconciliations, and supporting documents for annual tax filings. 
  •  Assist in the preparation and review of year-end tax-related schedules, including income, expenses, fixed assets, depreciation, and other supporting information. 
  •  Assist with external audits by providing requested documentation and schedules. 
  •  Monitor fixed assets and depreciation schedules. 
  •  Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements. 
  •  Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and strengthen internal controls. 
  •  Perform other accounting and finance duties as assigned. 
Qualifications

  •  Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 
  •  1–3 years of accounting experience preferred. 
  •  Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). 
  •  Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., AppFolio, QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics). 
  •  Experience with real estate or property management accounting is a plus. 
  •  Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. 
  •  Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. 
  •  Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. 
  •  Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
